Volunteer Profile: Cassie Roach

Cassie Roach began volunteering with Doctors Without Walls after graduating in 2015. Since then, she has worked with DWW as a scribe and packs volunteer and currently serves as coordinator of our Lompoc Clinic. Alongside her work at DWW, Cassie serves as Program Coordinator of New Beginnings Counseling Center's Safe Parking program: an innovative program designed to repurpose empty parking lots into a place of shelter for individuals living in their cars. Thank you Cassie for your inspiring work!

Alumni Profile: Matt Sumethasorn & Daniel Boctor

“It was originally a joke,” Matt Sumethasorn tells me regarding his cross-country roadtrip with fellow DWW alumnus, Daniel Boctor. The duo spent two and a half weeks this summer traveling across the country as a final hurrah before starting medical school this fall. On their 5,000 mile journey, the two were able to bond with each other along with the fellow DWW alumni they visited along the way. Weeks later, they are now one month into their first year of medical school and ready to take the lessons they learned at DWW to new heights!

Special Feature: Women on the Streets

The Women's Free Homeless Clinic aims to provide a supportive environment where women can gather and strengthen each other while at their most vulnerable. Women attend knowing that not only will they be welcomed, but also acknowledged as individuals with their own struggles and desires. It is crucial that we listen as they share their experiences and take part in the amplification of their voices.

1. Volunteer. Whether you are a health-care provider, student, or any other professional, the need for services is endless. Contact us and we will find a way to best put your skills to use.

2. Make a financial contribution. Your donations go towards continuing and expanding our outreach, education, and advocacy.

3. Make an in-kind donation. A donation of medical supplies would allow us to directly put your donations to use, and can include anything from medical packs to socks. Contact us for more information.

4. Sign up for our e-newsletter. Our newsletter includes stories of outreach, upcoming events, and important messages from our staff. Find out even more about our organization and stay updated on pressing issues in our community. Contact us for more information.

5. Spread the word. Share our website either through Facebook, Twitter, or email. Follow us on facebook, instagram or linked-in.
