😭 Let your kids cry 😭

Did you know that crying is Mother Nature’s natural stress remedy? That means it's okay to let your kids cry! Of course, I'm not saying always ignore their tears, but, rather, understand that when we constantly scoop them up and save them from life's ups and downs, real emotional problems can develop and our kids’ resilience suffers.

You are not the worst parent in the world if you have a "crier" or you made your kid cry today... or your kid was set off by some asinine situation, like being served waffles instead of pancakes for breakfast. In other words, it’s healthy and beneficial to let him cry within your caring presence and you don’t and shouldn't have to try to stop your child from crying or feel it's your job to make him feel better.

If you take away just one #momtruth from this month's newsletter it's that we teach our kids about feelings in their first seven years of life, which has a huge impact on their future emotional resilience and health. So, unless you want your kid living in your basement when he's 35, stop your mom guilt and let him cry. Sometimes you need to just walk away and let him figure out life for himself.

Love,
Eirene
