A New Blessing!

We are officially a family of four now.  Jedidiah Washington Wareing arrived September 14 just before 8 in the morning. He was 8 pounds, 13 ounces and 21 inches long.

Jedidiah has settled into newborn life, eating and sleeping and sometimes staying awake for more than a few minutes. Big brother Drake seems to have accepted Jedidah's presence well enough, occasionally patting Jedidiah on the head or poking him in the face or touching his hands or feet.
Our inspiration for Jedidiah's name came from Jedidiah Smith, a brave, morally-upright (as far as we were able to discern) Western adventurer during the early 19th century. Later, we also found out that Jedidiah was the name given to Solomon by God. Jedidiah means "Beloved of the Lord."  Since Mike's favorite book of the Bible is Ecclesiastes, naming our son Jedidah seemed extra fitting. Another man that Mike greatly admires was George Washington, hence our choice for the middle name.

Our prayer for Jedidiah and for Drake is that our boys will grow up to be strong men who love the Lord, serve Him whole-heartedly, and stand courageously for Him, men who are not afraid to risk everything for the Lord as they follow Him.
