Rattigan’s masterpiece is a tale of British reserve which conceals both intense emotions and strength of character. Retiring school teacher Andrew's wife has been having an affair, but he finds both solace and dignity through an unpected gift from a pupil.
After the interval the second half of the evening will leave you laughing!
Cuts are on their way big time at the local County Council as it struggles to find ways to meet Government spending targets.  But when cleaners Angie and Josie come across a file which seems to show that their jobs are on the line they are determined to fight. And if that means playing dirty, so be it!

Letters & Poems from the Front

Tickets are also now on sale for two performances of a special event on November 1st & 3rd. CDS is a performing a selection of music, images, and readings about the impact of the Great War as part of Cuckfield Remembers. The event is being held at the Baptist Church in Polestub Lane and you can also book in the other usual ways.

Christmas Cabaret Auditions

Calling all accomplished and aspiring singers/dancers and musicians!
We need you to audition for the fourth Cuckfield Christmas Cabaret!
(Details of When & How are below and online)

The theme tTOTP logohis year is based around the classic Top of the Pops performances of the early 70’s. So we are hoping for mainly upbeat numbers so as to fill the dancefloor, and maybe a few ballads to ease off the gas.

Think of Glam Rock (Sweet, Bowie, Suzi Quattro, Mud, T-Rex), Teen Idols (David Cassidy, David Essex, Bay City Rollers, Little Jimmy Osmond(!)), and Crooners (Neil Diamond, Rod Stewart, Elton John)

We are also thinking of having an Old Grey Whistle Test section featuring three classic rock songs of the era.  Think Rolling Stones, Fleetwood Mac, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, etc.

Ideally, these would be performed by a live band, so a call-out to any musicians who would like to be involved.   We are looking for a bass and lead guitarist, and of course a drummer. Keys would be nice but aim to keep the arrangements pretty simple.

  • We are holding initial auditions on the evening of 8th October at the White Harte, kicking off approx. 7:30pm.

If possible, please bring any backing tracks with you on a USB stick, or email to  chris_cabaret@yahoo.com
(Any questions regarding song choices, backing track formats etc. can be sent there too.)

More roles & further details will be announced soon…
