Matt The Electrician and I had the honor and fun of being on a panel at the Southwest Regional Folk Alliance last month.  The panel was about artists and agents, booking and touring.  Later in the day, we provided one on one mentoring advice as well.  We saw old friends and made new friends at this year's conference.  Thanks to Dalis and SWRFA for including us.  Here's an action (or not) photo of Matt meeting with our friend Terry Klein.

BettySoo is excited to be taking part in One Road Austin (ORA), a two-week series of city-wide events, unifies and promotes existing events and organizations that champion diversity, sustainability, civic involvement and education. ORA's purpose is to connect communities and their stakeholders to local events, organizations, services, and educational hubs that celebrate Austin's diverse ethnicities, cultures and social movements. One Road Austin’s inaugural event at 3TEN will feature performances by a number of legendary and up-and-coming Austin artists, including Vallejo, Nakia, BettySoo, Ruben Ramos, Peterson Brothers, Oliver Rajamani, Lesly Reynaga, Tiarra Girls, a tribute to hip-hop pioneer MC Overlord and surprise guests.

My mom and dad went to Willie Nelson's 4th of July picnic for years.  When my mom heard Willie Nelson was organizing a concert and rally in Austin for Texas Democratic Senator Beto O'Rourke, that was a double headliner she just had to see.  Mom sent out an email to her kids asking if any of us would go with her.  Last night, my little sister met up with mom, they both got on a Capital Metro bus and headed to Auditorium Shores. John, my bum knee and I met them there.  After raining all day, it was a beautiful night, and the energy of the crowd was palpable. The evening ended on a high note with Willie Nelson sharing a new song "Vote 'Em Out". In the spirit of the democracy, remember early voting in the mid-terms starts this month, and give a listen to Willie's new song for some inspiration!
