October Newsletter 2018

Ahhh, October... The month of my birth. We were in Aspen Colorado recently on a well needed vacation. We drove to Leadville and passed through not only the orange and red but the beautiful yellow of the aspen trees. All I could think about was how my mom didn't remember much about the day I was born except for on the way to the hospital (in Cleveland OH) looking out the car window at the magnificent color of the trees along the way.

The other thing I love about October is all the outdoor festivals and of course, Halloween! There is something about being outside with the fresh clear air after a summer of staying inside all day long during the summer. I would guess it's something similar to springtime in other areas.

For those who have experienced hurricane, tornado, fire or flood or anything in between, you are in our prayers.

How to Start a Doll Club

Posted September 15, 2018 in Dolls
by Ruby Lane

It all started with a doll or two you saved from your childhood, and a couple more you bought at a yard sale because you thought they were cute.  Then, your friends and family brought you some more dolls as souvenirs. Soon, you realize that you are a doll collector. You perform your due diligence, but there are no clubs within driving distance of your home.  What do you do?  You start your own doll club!!

1.    One way to start a club is to visit local flea markets, antique shows, doll shows, auctions, and doll auctions. Zero in on dealers who sell dolls, and ask them if they would like to be part of our club.  Antique and doll folk are friendly, creative, hardworking, and resourceful people who love to talk shop.  You might have an “instant” club by the time you leave the show.
