Three Things

September 2018 — Issue No. 57

Hello <<First Name>>! September, amirite? Sophia and I have been living together for a whole thirty days, and aside from the time I didn't dry our clothes all the way we've been just wonderful, looking forward to many more months or years, who knows! :) Ok, enough of the sappy relationship stuff. I got the new iPhone which have taken my photos to the next level, and I got a new Macbook which has taken my typing to the next level? I was pretty active this month so lets get to it.

💸 Rich Table

—–Things I Ate

I have a list of restaurants I want to visit—that’s a normal thing people do right? Anyway, the next place on that list was Rich Table. I got lunch with Maia, and she mentioned she had reservations at RT and had two spots open which I was like 🤔. It all worked out that Matt, Maia, and Sophia could go. And it was amazing. We got the chefs tasting which allowed us to get all the things. My favorite dish was the mushroom donuts followed by this watermelon ice desert dish. It was a great night with great people.

👨‍🍳 Ratatouille

—–Things I Ate

I told Alaka’i I wanted to do dinner one night, and I was between eggplant parmesan or ratatouille. As you might of guessed, I made ratatouille. Sophia helped me design the beautiful pattern you see above. It was my first time making and eating ratatouille. It was quite delicious for being lots o’ vegetables in a tomato sauce. We also watched Ratatouille while eating ratatouille.

🍣 Wako

—–Things I Ate

I went to this restaurant a few months back with Sophia. I told Maia about it so naturally we had to go back. We did the same tasting menu and ordered several extra orders of otoro. It was really quite lovely.

🦐 Joshua’s Birthday

—–Things I Saw

We took our buddy JT Kure out for some light drinks and food, which turned into heavy drinks and food. We went to Violets and got the seafood platter with lobster, oysters, shrimp, oh my. Then somehow we ended up at Trader Sams drinking scorpion bowls which is never a good idea for anyone over 21. Happy birthday buddy!

And yes, Ed is holding up a three for Three Things.

🏈 UH vs San Jose State

—–Things I Saw

Dustin invited Sophia and I down to watch the University of Hawaii Warriors take on the San José Spartans. It was much warmer than San Francisco and Dustin had poke waiting for us when we got there. We accidentally left at half time (for all you can eat sushi) and the game ended up going into overtime… FIVE TIMES! Hawaii ended up taking the W, and we ate way too much sushi.

🛁 Onsen

—–Things I Saw

Sophia planned a little spa day for us at a real-life onsen here in the city! And omg it was amazing. There was a steam-room, a sauna, and a heated bath. We sat in the heated water drinking tea and lounging about. It was like something out of Spirited Away. 10/10 would go back.

Also, as you can imagine they don’t allow phones in the baths, so this selfie in the bath robes was the best I could do. Don’t say I didn’t do anything for you.

🐐 Ram's Gate

—–Places I Went

Michael had a great idea to invite Sophia to the country of San Francisco by going an hour north to Sonoma for a picnic in wine country. We sat next to a pond with a few bottles of white wine and conversed about life. It was a great introduction to life at 441. We ended up stopping in Sausalito for lunch right on the water.

⚾️ Giants

—–Places I Went

After a successful Giants outing with Alaka’i, we decided to invite our girlfriends in on the fun. We arrived at the park and got a crab sandwich, Philly cheesesteak, and chicken tenders with garlic fries. We also spent a few innings tracking down an Irish coffee for Sophia. I think the Giants won?

🇩🇪 Oktoberfest

—–Places I Went

Maia and I have consistently gone to Oktoberfest in the Bay for the last 7 years. It’s really quite a joyous event filled with full steins and belly laughs. This year was no different, but we added new faces. We had such a great time and were in bed at 8pm.
