Hi, everybody! So much to share this month. Here we go!

Inking Techniques video and art book Kickstarter is NOW LIVE

Today's the launch of the Kickstarter campaign for my husband's and my Inking Techniques Video and Ink Drawings Art Book. My hubby, Jeff Miracola, is a professional illustrator who also teaches hundreds of other artists through his popular YouTube channel and in-person art retreats. If you are an artist or know one, please visit the following link to support our project. We have a big funding goal to reach since we're creating both a DVD and an art book this time, but with your help we know we can make the goal.

What is Kickstarter?

For those who don't know what Kickstarter is, it is a crowdfunding website where creators, like us, create projects to raise money to make those projects become a reality. Backers (you) pledge X amount of money depending on what you want to get from the campaign (called Rewards). In this case, rewards include the new Inking Techniques Video (DVD and Digital Download format), as well as a 144 page book of Jeff's ink drawings. You can pledge to get the video, the book, or both. There are other rewards, too. If we meet our funding goal, then the products are made and shipped to you. If we don't meet our funding goal, you are not charged. Backing the campaign means you will get these items cheaper than when they are released to the general public.

We've had four other successful Kickstarter campaigns, so we're confident this video and art book will get made. Your support makes it happen, so we thank you.

Voicing TV commercials for UWM

I recently did some voice work for TV commercials for UW-Milwaukee that started running a few weeks ago. It was fun to work with such a great group of people at a really stellar university. Here's the link for your viewing pleasure. Enjoy. :)

Lots of writing events lately

We're in the throes of the convention season, so the past week has been a whirlwind of writing events, including being at two conferences in a single day. Kinda crazy but seriously fun.

I presented on how to write compelling characters at the Wisconsin Writers Association and played a few roles at SCBWI-Wisconsin's fall conference. A few days later, I sat in the audience at Boswell Books to hear Lori Rader-Day talk about her new book, Under a Dark Sky. It's a mystery/thriller set in a dark sky park. Oddly enough, I'd just been talking with my husband about how I'd like to visit a dark sky park, so I am waaaaay excited to read this.

Even more events

And, sure, just 'cuz, I'll be at more places over the next months. I'd love to see some of you there.

Another giveaway

I'll be giving away pairs of God Awful Loser and God Awful Thief over the next few months in anticipation of the release of the third book. If you already have these, thank you for supporting my work :) --  and feel free to give the pair to a friend. It's always good to share reads.

You don't need to do anything for this giveaway. You're already entered. I'll draw a (particularly creeeeepy Halloween-y) name October 31st, at noon Central Time and contact the winner via email. I'll also cover shipping costs.

Also...

... please do remember that authors depend on word of mouth for their success. If you enjoyed a God Awful book, please leave a review on Amazon. Even one sentence helps a potential reader find a book they might enjoy. Thanks!

And finally, a nifty newsletter feature

Did you know that you can click the “View this email in your browser” link at the top of this email to be redirected to not only an archived version of this newsletter but also past newsletters? You can go back and see what I talked about way, way back  ... when we were all so innocent and naive ... :)

So that's all the news worth typing - until next month, my friends!
