NEWS

RECYCLE WEEK

To celebrate Recycle Week (24th-30th September) we ran a number of events across the campus. The most notable of these was our Litter Letters (pictured above), which went on display in Royal Fort Garden from Monday to Thursday before being moved to Durdham Down for the Welcome Fair.
Other activities included a lunchtime walking litter-pick across the Clifton campus, a KeepCup treasure hunt run by the RAG, Volunteering and Sustainability Network, and a takeover of our social media by Bristol Waste Company!

TRANSPORT

The University launched a brand new bus service last week, during Welcome Week. This service, the U2, connects Langford to the Clifton campus, providing a much-needed transport link for the local community as well as reducing the pressure of parking in Bristol.
The service is free for Veterinary School students and was developed in response to their feedback about transport links to Bristol Veterinary School at Langford.
The U2 joins the already established U1 Unibus which has been running successfully for a year, although the U2 somehow seems more ripe for puns of a musical variety...

NEW STUDENTS

When we weren't promoting recycling last week, we were busy welcoming a new cohort of students to Bristol!
Welcome Week activities included a RAG, Volunteering and Sustainability Network plant-potting workshop (pictured above) for which we provided compostable pots, followed by a Network mingle, and ending the week with our Litter Letters at the Welcome Fair to engage new students and get them thinking about their recycling habits as they begin University life.

HOT TOPIC: WINTER WELLBEING

Winter can seem like a time for going into hibernation but as the pace of modern life doesn't allow us such an opportunity, here are some ways to look after your wellbeing in the colder climes of the next few months:
What you can do: Organise a movie night with family, friends or flatmates; plan an autumn walk - Ashton Court and Leigh Woods are right on the doorstep; stay connected by volunteering with a University or community initiative; eat well - a lot of delicious root veg and autumnal fruit is coming into season!
See the Events section below for info on upcoming wellbeing events!
