The goal of the first Textile Month is to bring together the Portland textile community for a month long series of learning, sharing, events/celebrations, and cross pollination among enthusiasts, artists, businesses and institutions. We hope to provide an open platform to engage and share ideas, history, knowledge, experiences, practices across cultures, viewpoints and generations. We draw our inspiration for Portland Textile Month from Textile Month in New York City and Design Week Portland.
Ever wondered how to work with knitting machines? Come visit the Fiber Rhythm Studio and see first hand how knit fabrics of various kinds can be made. Samples of knitting with reflective yarn, double jacquard, ribbing and tuck stitch as well as fair isle and intarsia will be on display. We have a wide range of knitting machines available for studio use. Sit down and we’ll show you how to knit an afghan square.
