September update

With the end of the school year looming, it has been wonderful to see our schools engaging with their industry partners and planning for their activities in 2019.  Here are some highlights from the past few weeks:

* The AGISP Steering Committee met at the beginning of the month at Aviation Australia. (photos below)

* St Columban's College hosted 20 Principals from around Australia for a 2 day conference.  This group of Principals are considered leaders in the VET delivery in secondary schools nationally and they meet twice a year to collaborate on innovative approaches on how to connect with industry .   Thank you to our industry partners Qantas, Airbus and Aviation Australia for taking the time to show this group around your facilities.  (photo below)

* Springwood SHS Aerospace students toured Qantas Hangar 3.

* During the school holidays, Boeing Defence Australia hosted four students at their Amberley facilities, Air New Zealand hosted two students as did Archerfield Airport Corporation.   Thank you industry partners for your support.

*The UAV Challenge was another successful event which saw Mueller College place fourth and Noosa District SHS competed for their first year, and placed a commendable sixth.  Congratulations on your efforts!  (photos below)

* Qantas Engineering are looking for an Aircraft Timmer apprentice, so they invited students who were interested in the position to come and see what the role would be about.   Check out the video that was made by the students at St. Columban's College below.

* Manufacturing and Engineering Project Manager, Jules McMurtrie and I co-presented at the 2018 STEM Teacher Symposium (photo below)

*Nominations are still open for the 2018 Aerospace Industry Education Awards.

* The new and improved AGISP logo has been released and is now being used for an official roll out in 2019!

* Check out the list of events (What's coming up)!

Don't forget to keep sending in those photos and updates from your adventures and to 'like' the AGISP Facebook, Instagram and Twitter pages for more regular updates.

St. Columban's College Principal tour of Industry
UAV Challenge 2018
2018 STEM Teacher Symposium
Earlier this month, Qantas Engineering put a call out for Expressions of Interest for an Aircraft Trimmer Apprenticeship.  The response from our Gateway Schools was incredible.  Qantas was kind enough to invite these students to attend a one day visit to Hangar 3 to get a better understanding of the job and what was all involved.  St Columban’s College, Caboolture student, Bella Robers was one of those students, and the school's media students tagged along to film the opportunity.   Thank you for sharing St. Columban's College.  Great video!
DESBT Strategic Engagement Manager, Mr. Ross Hanley, has taken the AGISP international by proudly wearing a GISP cap on his recent trip to Spain.
Thank you to all our loyal
supporters and sponsors.
