Women in Leadership

Towards the end of 2017, Plan International Australia created the She Can Lead report, which enables young people in Australia to share their views on women in politics and leadership.

The topic of women in politics and leadership is something that is very close to the heart (and personal experience) of Tegan Swan, Community Development Officer at Mid Coast Communities:

“Girls must become visible in places of power and influence.  When girls have a political voice, they can demand action to ensure all girls can learn, lead, decide and thrive. It can be said that empowerment is not enough: we need a political and social environment that makes girls and their lives visible to governments and policy makers. “

Tegan has been invited to open the Australian Women’s Leadership Forum in Coffs Harbour tomorrow (Friday, 12 October), in her role with Coffs Harbour City Council.  This is a regional event, and all women who have leadership aspirations or are leaders in their community or workplace are encouraged to attend the forum.

Tickets can be purchased here: and Tegan is pleased to offer you the benefit of her speaker discount, by entering the following code in the booking portal: WLF18.

Offline Assessment Forms - Appropriate approval to start services

If a system issue prevents the delegate from recording their approval decisions on My Aged Care, the delegate is required to use the Offline Approval Form (accessed through the My Aged Care assessor portal) to record their decision/s.
The approval takes effect on the day the delegate signs and dates this form. If the client needs to enter care and the system issue is outstanding, this form provides evidence to the provider of the approval.

If a service provider receives a signed form, this is enough evidence to start services as soon as possible.

For further information about offline assessments, please view the My Aged Care Assessment Manual, on the department's website.

Funding Opportunities

Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) Growth Funding announced

On 2 October 2018, the Minister for Senior Australians and Aged Care, the Hon Ken Wyatt AM, MP, announced that $50 million per year in Growth Funding would be offered over two years to a select number of existing CHSP service providers from 2018-19 with a strong record of delivery.
The department analysed current funding and population data and determined that funding for the following service types should be prioritised:

- Home maintenance
- Home modifications
- Meals
- Domestic assistance
- Transport services

The department will contact the selected CHSP providers over the coming weeks to offer additional funding in 2018-19.
Growth funding is important to enable the sector to respond to the changing needs of CHSP clients and to align with the growth in Australia’s population. The department is also investigating Growth Funding options for the 2019-20 financial year.

For more information and for future updates on CHSP Growth Funding please refer to the department's website.
