Pitopito kōrero - The Latest

Kia ora koutou, nau mai ki te wātaka kōnohete. Welcome to this week's edition of the gig-guide! This week we're hosting Fruit Juice Parade's EP Release show on Saturday night. You can check out their debut EP 'the more you don't know the less you know' which was released this morning! They recorded the EP here at The Stomach earlier in the year and are putting it out online and on cassette (pre-order now) with Papaiti Records (also home to some great NZ 'Stay True Young Emo' records by Carb on Carb, Soda Boys, Prizegiving, Namesake, Cool Cult, and more!).

Today also saw the first official release from Te Papaioea local
Department of Labour (you may know some of his earlier work as Kolkhoz). You can check out the first track from the EP 'Grifter' now on bandcamp. The four track EP was recorded live (as such) here at The Stomach following a competition win over at Manawatū People's Radio that included a recording prize from CSSI. If you're into electro / house / industrial / synthwave then this one is definitely essential listening for you. You'll be able to catch it live too during SwampFest 2018 later in the month!

Also tonight it's First Fridays over at Snails featuring a huge local electronica lineup - DJ Knutz – DropZone Kru - sense_ rmx set - researchintospeed - Bejuiled - Token Whitey - Digital Diggers - 88FM - Darkist ft Crimp JJ VJ squad. Koha entry, see you there.

Remember that you can also get your SwampFest 2018 (SF18) pass now from The Stomach. They're $30 and get you into the two big festival nights at The Stomach (+ a sweet afterparty at The Digs clubhouse) on the 19th & 20th of October.

See you at the gigs! Remember that you can add your gig to the guide (if we haven't put it there already) by emailing us here at The Stomach

Annual General Meeting

Thanks everyone who attended the AGM on Tuesday, it was great to see you there in support of the society, The Stomach, and the work we do. A huge thanks to our new Management Committee too. They'll be working diligently over the coming year, looking after the society and ensuring that we make progress on some of our bigger goals including new equipment, 'Feed The Tummy' / financial membership (a supporters donation scheme) and increasing our staffing capacity so we can do even more!

In case you missed it, our new Management Committee is: Lauren Annear Henderson (Convenor), Chirstine Braid, Felix Carr, Callum Goacher, Stuart Hubbard, Meredith MacKenzie (Treasurer), Stephen Palenski, Cain Porteous, Sam Seumanu, Graeme Slimmin, Fraser Williams, & Hannah Zimmerman.
