Buddhist Psychology - Foundation of Buddhist Thought

The Buddhist spiritual path could be summed up as an analysis of how the mind functions to create suffering and happiness, together with the methods and techniques we need to practice in order to eliminate suffering and create happiness for ourselves and others. In this module of the Foundation of Buddhist Thought you will explore the detailed explanations of the nature of the mind, positive and negative ‘mental factors’ such as love and compassion, concentration, wisdom, attachment, aversion and ignorance, and the Buddhist theory of knowledge or Valid Cognition.

The course runs over 3 weekends: Sat 6 Oct, 10:30-17:00 and Sun 7 Oct 12:30-17:00. To find out more about course prerequisite, how to register and the dates for Nov and Dec click here. Suggested donation £150 for the module (3 weekends).
Public Talks with Don Handrick at Jamyang Leeds
Buddhist teacher Don Handrick returns to Jamyang Leeds this autumn with two public talks to enrich your spiritual journey.

Practising Buddhism Minute by Minute: Don will be investigating how to skillfully integrate what we study and practise on the meditation cushion into our daily lives to transform even the most mundane tasks into powerful actions and causes to benefit both ourselves and others. is on Tues Oct 23, 18:30-20:00 at Jamyang Leeds, 12 York Place, LS1 2DS

Conscious Ageing – Enjoying the Gifts of Growing Older : Life can be quite challenging as we age, and society as a whole offers a poor roadmap for the last leg of our journey. But as we proceed through this latter phase of our lives, unique and profound opportunities for spiritual growth and development can be revealed and we can find a renewed sense of purpose and meaning in life. In this Don will discuss how all of us, regardless of our age, can come to appreciate the value and benefits of growing older with grace.
Wed Oct 24, 18:30-20:00 at Jamyang Leeds, 12 York Place, LS1 2DS

Don is a graduate of the Masters Program of Buddhist Studies at the Institute Tsongkhapa. He is also the resident teacher at Thubten Norbu Ling Buddhist Center in Santa Fe, NM in the USA. A gifted teacher, Don conveys his deep understanding of the Buddhist spiritual path in a way that is relatable to all level and those looking to bring benefit to their daily lives.
