Weekly Ballroom News

We hope all of you are safely recovering. We have heard from most of you or heard from you through others. And many thanks for the kind offers of assistance. We feel our damages and losses are manageable and our hearts go out to those that lost so much.
Since many of you, like us, are still dealing with recovery efforts we decided to cancel our group classes this week. We are teaching a few private lessons and we will hold our Sunday Technique Class.

There are a number of changes to scheduled events. We will try to update you when we have more information. Some examples: The friends of again dance scheduled for this past Saturday has been postponed. The Dance scheduled this Friday that the Minesott Golf Club has been postponed.

Sundays - New Bern - Dance Technique Workshop
Our next Dance Regular Technique Workshop will be this Sunday Sept 30.
This will be a special class. We do this about once a year where we hold a mock competition. All the couples get on the floor whether they are competitors or not. We watch the dancers and then talk about improvements to technique and performance. 2 to 4 PM in the Stanly Hall Ballroom.

Sundays - New Bern - Flash Mob Dance Workshop
On Sundays that we have our dance technique workshops (see above) we are holding half hour workshops at about 4:15 PM to learn the USA Dance Flash Mob dance for 2018. Lots of fun. Everyone is welcome to join in.

Sept 21 -30 USA Dance National Ballroom Dance Week

Sept 22 - POSTPONED Friends of the Aging in Carteret County hosts their annual event at the Crystal Coast Civic Center in Morehead City. The theme this year is "Golden Oldies" 40's USO "Salute to the Troops" $20pp includes dinner, (2 wine or beer tickets) and dancing. Dinner catered by Fat Boys. 6 to 10 PM.
This is a big event. We are scheduled to perform our Flash Mob dance here as well. We are trying to reserve tables so please let us know very soon if you wish to attend.

Sept 28 - POSTPONED Dinner Dance at MBCC Enjoy "Low Country Boil" featuring a variety of seafood gumbo style! (Chicken dinner will be provided for those allergic to shellfish)
Live Music for dancing and listening pleasure by Chuck Eatmon's 3 piece band until 9:30 pm! Libations begin at 5:30 pm - Dinner at 6 pm $22.50 PP - Cash Bar Call Terry for reservations by September 25th at 252-249-0813 Ext 1

Oct. 5-7 - Carolina Fall Classic Championships in Charlotte. A National Qualifying event.

Oct. 6 - Dance at Fort Benjamin Park Recreation Center in Newport. 6 to 9 PM. $20 per couple $15 per person with advanced signup. $10 more at the door. Register at ccpr.recdesk.com

Dances This Week

Tuesday - every week is the Kinston Senior Dance at the Galaxy Sports complex in Kinston 7:00 to 10:00.Live Band. $8pp May need to check if this is open

Friday night each week - Country Dance at the Redmen's Lodge in Washington, NC. 7:30 to 10:30 PM $8pp May need to check if this is open

Friday night is the semi-monthly open dance in the Stanly Hall Ballroom (Rivertowne Ballroom) in New Bern. 7 to 10 PM - $10 per person.

Saturday - has the County Opry Western dance with live music. 7:30 to 10:30 PM $10pp
