September 2018 Edition

I was in Kelowna, BC for the Women's Enterprise Centre Board meeting earlier this month and met with female leaders in technology. Once again, I heard about the persistent challenges that women CEOs in technology still face while raising capital and building their businesses. I've also been speaking with investors in the US - Washington state in particular - and there continues to be a lot of optimism about, support for, and interest in Pique's investment strategy, focusing on impact-based ventures and investing in leadership diversity.

Our first fund, Pique Fund, is again open to new investors (accredited investors, certain non-accredited investors may be eligible to invest). Contact us for more information about how you can invest.

If you would like to learn more about our second venture fund, Pique Fund II that considerably scales the impact and outcomes we've achieved so far with Pique Fund, please contact me

Next month I will be in San Francisco for SOCAP. In November, I'll be Quebec City and one of Pique Fund's investors will be in Calgary. Have a look at our events section below to see where we'll be.

All the best,

Beanworks Raises $10M, Champions Gender Diversity
Pique Fund first invested in Beanworks in 2015. We backed CEO Catherine Dahl's leadership in the tech industry and her commitment to having at least 50% women within her company. Beanworks is an accounting workflow automation company. In an industry where disproportionately more women are impacted by accounting automation, yet most roles making decisions about technology are occupied by men, Pique is proud to participate in Beanworks' most recent investment round.

What We Look For As Investors
Pique has a robust due diligence process for evaluating impact investment opportunities. We gather as much information as reasonably possible before making a decision about investing in a management team and the company they lead. However, there are three key things we look for and we integrate analysis, emotion, body, and intuition into our investment decisions.
