Fix Common Issues with Web Apps and Improve Google Chrome Browser Performance


Sometimes web apps will hang or not load properly. This is often caused by corrupt files, or old web page code stored in the temporary internet files folder used by Google Chrome. Here is an easy way to clear the temporary internet files (cache) in Google Chrome.

On a Student Windows Computer, Laptop, or Chromebook


Launch Google Chrome and follow these steps:

  1. Click on the 3 vertical dots in the top right corner of Google Chrome and click Settings in the pull-down menu.
  2. In the Settings search bar at the top of the settings page, type "clear browsing data". Locate and click the Clear Browsing Data item in the search results to open the Clear Browsing Data window.
  3. Click on the Advanced tab and choose "All Time" in the Time range field.  
  4. Make sure all checkboxes are checked and highlighted in blue.
  5. Click the Clear Data button,
  6. Close all instances of Google Chrome and then relaunch it.

    TECH TIP: On Windows computer, use the keyboard shortcut is shift+Ctrl+delete to open the Clear Browsing Data window.


On a Teacher's Windows Computer, Laptop, or Chromebook
 

Launch Google Chrome and follow these steps:

  1. Follow steps 1-2 in the previous instructions.
  2. On the Basics tab, choose "All Time" in the Time Range field.
  3. Make sure all three checkboxes are selected and highlighted in blue. (This leaves passwords and autofill data intact)
  4. Click the Clear Data button,
  5. Close all instances of Google Chrome and then relaunch it.
