By The Bay EXHIBITION:

By The Bay Opening Night Feedback:
Many thanks to David Wells for his opening.  Big gesture given his dawn flight to Melbourne the next morning.  The opening was, as expected, a huge success with our usual crowd of support, obviously not put off by the blustery weather.  The pottery section was particularly brilliant this year, resulting in fantastic sales.  In fact, the entire exhibition standard appears to have reached new heights – well done everyone.

Kim Richards MP visit to MIAC:
On Saturday, 22nd after multiple engagements on Macleay, our lovely “other” patron, Kim Richards MP popped into the Complex.  She viewed our By The Bay Exhibition, visited her old stomping grounds, the pottery shed, and she looked in on Katrina Simmons’ “Experimental Drawing – Marking Making 1” workshop which was in progress at the time.  See comments and pics below:

Many thanks to Merril Appleby and Kay for feedback to Katrina below -
“It was a pleasure attending the Experimental Drawing workshop.
It was a different aspect for me but constructive and interesting thanks to your guidance and encouragement.
You will be pleased to know that I did actually enjoy it  !!!”

"Hi Katrina, Thanks again for such a great workshop on Saturday. As a result I feel very motivated to explore abstract work and plan to do more exercises along the lines of those we worked on with your expert assistance. I am really looking forward to the Collage workshop. kind regards, Kay"

Running Wild Request:
Below is an email received from the Running Wild team.
Subject: artist needed
Hi Everyone
I am looking for someone who can turn marine debris into art pieces.  I am putting together a School Holiday Program and would like a couple of workshops on making art from rubbish with young people involved.  We have been collecting a wide range of marine debris over the past couple of months and now want to do something with it.  Youth Workers will be present during sessions to assist with the workshop.
If this sounds like you or you know someone please contact Chook.
Cheers

FREE Shore Bird Sculpturing Workshop with artist Deb Mostert.
Feedback from this workshop was amazing.  Seems everyone loved it.  Deb offered to come back to MIAC (Obviously impressed with our little art complex) and run a drawing workshop.  “Everyone needs to learn to draw” she says.  See Tracy Milchick’s facebook post for MIAC below.

MIAC members thoroughly enjoying a shorebird sculpturing workshop delivered by the lovely & very talented Deb Mostert Studio today. The little birds made will be part of an installation at the Redland Art Gallery in conjunction with Deb Mostert’s “Australien Future - Migration Tales” exhibition to open in December as part of the Redland Art Gallery 15th birthday celebrations
