Hello and welcome to the UV-Guard Newsletter. In this edition, we discuss the importance of alternative water supplies and share the address of our new premises.

Making the most of our water

With large parts of Australia experiencing a significant drop in rainfall throughout the year, the way we manage our water is becoming more and more important. Making use of alternative water sources can assist.
Alternative water sources

There are a number of alternative water sources available. With the correct treatment, the quality of the below water supplies can be improved for safe potable or non-potable uses.

Stormwater – collection and treatment of runoff from paved surfaces - commonly known as Stormwater Harvesting

Rainwater – capturing from roofs, storing in tanks and treating rainwater can be a valuable potable water supply to home owners and businesses

Groundwater – uses bores and pumps to extract water from underground sources. It is advised to get a water quality report prior to any water treatment process being proposed.

Private river and dam water – commonly used for stock and agricultural purposes. Again, water quality analysis is advised prior to adequate water treatment selection.

In rural areas of Australia where rainfall is well below average levels and household tanks, private dams and rivers are drying up, using ground water is often the most viable option.

It is recommended that all water is treated to remove pathogens and potentially harmful chemicals. UV disinfection, combined with the correct pre or post treatment is a proven technology in the creation of safe water from alternative supplies.

Additionally, our Hard Water Conditioner - HWC-Series is a cost effective device used to target the hard minerals in bore water to reduce and remove scale build up.

If you're unsure - ask UV-Guard

If you have questions about how you can treat your alternative water supply, contact the water engineers at UV-Guard.

When considering a water source where the quality is unknown, we recommend undertaking a full water quality analysis. This is especially relevant for ground water (bore water), stormwater, river water and dam water.

The water analysis results will allow UV-Guard to design the correct treatment for your application.
