FRESHMAN WELCOME WEEK

The week of September 24-29 was filled with fun, challenges, games, and food.  Freshmen and seniors continued the tradition of creating the handprint banner that hangs on the wall for the entire year.  Freshmen also learned about civility and how to incorporate those lessons in their lives. Welcome to the MPS family, class of 2022!
HOMECOMING LANTERN RELEASE

A lantern release will take place during halftime at the Homecoming football game on October 12.  One lantern from each grade level will be a memorial to lost loved ones and those fighting a serious illness.  Lanterns will be blessed by Fr. Steve and then released by class presidents. Additional pre-order lanterns for release will be sold during lunch mods until October 3.  They will also be for sale at the October 12 game.  Biodegradable lanterns are $5 each and all proceeds benefit the Mercyhurst Family Emergency Fund.   Thank You!  Elizabeth Kuhn ‘19
MPS ALUMNI ROADSHOW FALL SCHEDULE

If you are an MPS graduate living in or going to school in the Chicago or Pittsburgh area, we are heading your way!

President Ed Curtin will host the free alumni happy hour in Chicago on November 8 at Emerald Loop on North Wabash Avenue. Reservations are necessary. Please contact Lisa at lznietupski@mpslakers.com.

This is a great chance to tap into your Laker network by meeting up with other MPS alumni in your area. We look forward to catching up with you and bringing you news from your alma mater!

The Pittsburgh roadshow is scheduled for November 14. The location will be announced closer to the date. The last time we took the roadshow to Pittsburgh we had a tremendous crowd.  We look forward to another great gathering.

SUDAN WATER PROJECT

A group of students from the class of 2019 have joined together to raise money to build a well in South Sudan. Their goal is to raise $5,000 and donations of any amount are greatly appreciated. Funds will be donated to the organization, Water for South Sudan, started by Salva Dut in 2003. His goal was to transform and sustain the quality of life for people in South Sudan by raising money to drill wells, providing the citizens with clean drinking water. If you would like to donate, please contact Mrs. Hannah Tatar or Morgan Schnars ’19. We are selling reusable water bottles and hosting the Great Pumpkin 5k on October 27. We will post updates on MPS social media, and donations will be accepted until the end of 2018. Sign up: mpslakers.com/southsudan5k.
