Salamun Alaykum

As we come together to mourn the martyrdom of the Master of the Martyrs (as) during this holy month of Muharram, we send our condolences to the Imam of Our Time (atfs), the Ahlul Bayt (as), the Maraji, and all Mu’mineen around the world.

The Islamic Education team came up with the #BecomeHusayni series this month, which shows us how we can take lessons from Imam Husayn (as) and implement them into our daily life. Let’s use this time of the year to reflect and make a firm commitment to follow his example by ‘becoming Husayni’ - by personifying his outstanding qualities in our character, our lifestyle and in our habits. Watch the videos here.

We have had a fantastic response to our Ali Asghar Water Appeal so far, Alhamdullilah. We will be sharing some updates in the coming weeks about exactly how you’ve helped communities in Kenya, Bangladesh and Pakistan. Please keep supporting this appeal as there is far more
that we need to achieve to give vulnerable communities access to safe and clean water.

Some of the WF-AID team and office beares will be travelling to Syria later this week to deliver aid and see the progress of our projects. Be sure to follow our social media pages: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter to see updates from the trip. The team will be also distributing proceeds from our successful sale of hoodies and t-shirts this Muharram. Read more about it here.

It is with deep sorrow and grief that we has received the sad news of the MV Nyerere ferry disaster which occurred on Thursday, 20th September 2018 in Lake Victoria, Tazania. The ferry carrying about 400 passengers plying between the Islands of Ukerewe and Ukara overturned and capsized near Ukara Island, with over 200 lives lost. We send our heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of the United Republic of Tanzania on this tragic incident.

The World Federation and the Africa Federation have jointly contributed Tshs.10M towards the ferry disaster fund to assist the deceased families and the survivors of the incident. You can read the press release here

Each video has an introduction to the topic where we will look at a verse or hadith which relates to the chosen topic and a practical tip for us to ponder over and begin to take action in our daily lives. Click here to get the full dose of each Muharram Lesson.
