The Benefits of Using an E-Reader
There’s a number of neat benefits that come with reading on an e-reader, such as a Kindle or a Nook device. One benefit is that you can easily change the font size of any book you are reading. So whether you need regular, large, or dyslexic friendly font, it’s easy to change. Another benefit is the built in dictionary most of these devices have. Tap and hold on an unknown word, and the dictionary will pop up a definition right on top of the book page. A third benefit is synchronization between devices. For example, you may prefer to leave your e-reader at home, but if you want to read your book while waiting for an appointment or over your lunch, use the Overdrive or Libby app on your smartphone to sync to the last page read on the device at home. Personally, my favorite feature, which is not standard but available on certain models, is a back light so I can read in the dark without having to turn on a light.
The library has a great selection of eBooks that can be downloaded from anywhere you have Wi-Fi. Consider an e-reader as a way to enhance your reading experience. Bring your device to the library if you need help setting it up or downloading materials to read on it.
