Urban Orchards bear fruit for schools, community

In 2016, the seeds were planted in De Pere – quite literally – for residents to have convenient access to fresh fruit while walking, biking or driving throughout the City. Better yet, the hope was to give local food pantries another source of fresh fruit to make available to those in need. The past few weeks, this vision became reality as area students, businesses, families, community members and volunteers were out harvesting fruit from the City of De Pere’s unique Urban Orchard program.

Aquatic
Facility Referendum
Rundown

Regarding the issue of aquatic facilities, the City of De Pere will hold a binding referendum on the Nov. 6 general election ballot. The decision to host a city-wide referendum on the issue was approved by a unanimous 7-0 vote at the Tuesday, Aug. 21 Common Council meeting. The referendum, in simple terms, will ask residents if they wish to allow the City to exceed the tax levy limits each year – on an ongoing basis - by up to $900,000 to first build and then maintain new aquatic facilities at the current sites of both VFW and Legion pools.
