Historical Fiction about the Great War
This November marks the 100-year anniversary of the end of World War I, also known as The Great War. It began on July 28, 1914, and ended on November 11, 1918. Originally the people of Great Britain and other Allies believed the war would last a few months; however, it ended up lasting over four years with the death of 10 million military personnel and almost seven million civilians. When the war ended, people called it “the war to end all wars.” For those interested in learning more about life during that time, here are some historical fiction book recommendations.

Thankful Reads
In honor of Thanksgiving, our Executive Director Erin Wincek shared that she's thankful to live in a community with strong support for public libraries, and she's thankful to work with an incredible team of library employees who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for everyone they meet. Fold3 is a genealogy database that features collections of original records including stories, photos, and personal documents of the men and women who served in the military. Coverage spans from the Revolutionary War to today, with some additional international sources. ECPL Resource ~ Library Card required.
Evening Storytime, Blasco Library, Thursday, November 15, 6:30 – 7:30 pm. Ages 3-5 years.
