Hello from New Orleans, Louisiana!
 Today our Certified B Corp Community wrapped up the 2018 B Corp Champions Retreat: Building the B Economy in New Orleans. It was an inspiring couple of days learning about the B Economy, which is built by everyone who works for, buys from, invests in, learns or teaches about, or supports businesses striving to create a shared and durable prosperity for all. We are all involved in creating a more Inclusive Economy, and while our movement has incredible momentum, we also have a lot of work to do.
Around 40 people from our B Local PDX community area attended, including nearly our entire Board. We brought our expertise as well, with several of our local business leaders giving talks and sitting on panels. A huge congratulations is in order for Cameron Madill of PixelSpoke, Chair of B Local PDX. Cameron was honored by B Lab for his tireless work with B Local Communities, which support, connect, and build energy around Certified B Corps in their regions.

B Local PDX is Seeking Two New Board Members
We are building our local B Corp community leadership team with two open Board positions - Learning Chair & Events Chair.
Applications Due October 10
B Local PDX is a community that helps business people act on their purpose to achieve socio-economic and environmental impact through meaningful relationships. We work to provide certification support for aspiring and existing B Corps, connections for growth opportunities, and collaboration around social & environmental impact.
Does just the image of B Corps in action leave you feeling jazzed? Are you an enterprising leader with something to offer toward spurring this movement forward through local efforts? Can you make some time to put your aspirations into reality? Then consider applying for a board position with B Local PDX.
The Learning Chair will develop opportunities for collective learning and sharing across the regional B Corp community around each of the impact areas as well as sharing best practices around marketing the B Corp certification, recruiting employees, and finding business opportunities to work together. This includes developing an annual calendar of learning events and opportunities, as well as communications around them.
The Events Chair will be focused on strategic events to advance Board goals. They will develop an events strategy, lead execution of that events strategy, and engage the support of people and resources in the community that can help with executing the events strategy.
All interested and motivated employees of a local B Corp are encouraged to apply. B Local PDX has a goal to achieve, among its membership, over-representation from historically under-represented populations.

Party with the Portland area B Corp community at our 3rd Annual B Bash! All are welcome at this party celebrating B Local PDX’s purpose and passion for using business as a force for good.
This year's B Bash will include heavy appetizers, a DJ, a photobooth and beer and wine bars (some admission options include open bar access) featuring local B Corp breweries and wineries. There will also be an exciting raffle benefiting B Local PDX's certification support program.

ABC: Always B Collaborating
 Connect with fellow B Corp employees working in similar roles, functions, and departments through the Always B Collaborating (ABC) event series. ABC events provide a venue to discuss opportunities, challenges, and best practices as well as collaborate on collective initiatives. These groups are organized and energized by members of our community.
We currently have groups formed around Human Resources, Community Engagement, Marketing, Sustainability Reporting. We are also exploring a Founders & CEOs group.
