Hello, <<First Name>>.

LAA is a busy place! Fall Festival and parent/teacher conferences are happening this coming week on Sunday and Thursday (respectively). Also, we have a day and a half off of school this week! Be sure to read everything carefully so you are well-informed about your student's school.
"For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”
-2 Timothy 1:7

Principal MatthewsPrincipal's Message

Brrrr!! What happened? Are we going from summer to winter in one day? As you well know, our first quarter is rapidly coming to an end – like today! Thus, all grades are being evaluated for the first quarter. We look forward to discussing these with all parents next Thursday during parent/teacher conferences. If you have not already signed up, do so today! Our academic awards ceremony will also be held this coming Thursday at 8:15 am in the fellowship hall. Don’t forget there is no school on Friday October 19, as well as Thursday and Friday October 25-26. We are very excited about our fall festival this Sunday. Remember this is a required school day with lots of fun new activities this year for all ages. Remember, only you can prevent forest fires!

P.S. The Rocky Mountains got 12 inches of snow yesterday. IT’S COMING!!

Announcements

LAA's annual fall festival is this Sunday, Oct 14th, from 10 am to 2 pm. (Middle School and High School Students are asked to be available for setup at 9:30 am. Everyone will help with cleanup afterwards.) This is a required school day and attendance will be taken.
Coupons for your family and friends: Fall Festival is also an important fundraising day for our school. Each family should have received a coupon card for $2 off of the wristband price as well as an extra one or two to give to a friend. Please invite anyone you know who might enjoy this event!
Student Participation: Each student (parent must assist for 6th grade and under) will be required to help for 30 minutes with one of the action-in-learning stations. You should have received an email and a handout with the student schedule on it, or click here to view it.
Exhibits: We are still accepting vendors for exhibit tables, as well as donations for a silent auction. Help us, help you! Gain interest in your product while helping to fundraise.
Contact Tabitha Sikes at 812-786-5373 (text or call) or email.
Parent/Teacher Conferences
Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up on Thursday, October 18. Please note that the academic award ceremony will be held at 8:15 that morning and that school will be dismissing at noon that day. We ask all parents to schedule a specific time slot with their student’s teacher(s) that afternoon or evening. You should have received instructions on how to do so from your student’s teacher(s). Contact them immediately if you are not already signed up.
Cookie Dough Update!
Thank you so much for your participation in the eighth grade class fundraiser! We sold around 250 units and raised $2100!! Orders will be delivered around October 22, and we will alert you to the specific date as soon as we know it. It will be important to pick it up on the day they are delivered as we have no way to store them.
Health Nugget - Health Hack for your Brain
“Just like the other organs in your body, your brain requires certain nutrients to function properly. Whole, unrefined grains, such as brown rice, quinoa, and whole-grain cereals, provide energy to help you concentrate. Eating healthy fats found in pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds, and walnuts are also good for overall brain health. To improve memory, choose foods with anthocyanins, including blueberries and other dark red and purple fruits and vegetables."
Your Box Tops for Education may be Expiring Soon!!
Some Box Tops for Education will expire in November of 2018. If you have any sitting around in your home, bring them in asap so we don’t lose this valuable resource!
LAA Text Alerts - Just Do It!
Parents, if you have not already done so, please be sure that you are signed up for our text alert system. It only takes a moment! Simply text @laanews to 81010 from your mobile phone to get signed up. Be sure not to include any spaces in the text, as the subscription will not be completed if you do.
Tuition Payments
Remember that the tuition is due by the 20th of each month and is considered late after that date. If your payment is not received on time, your account will be delinquent and your child is subject to suspension. If you have any questions, you may contact Arden Hagele at 813-310-3839 or at treasurer.laa@gmail.com. You can also pay online by going to the school website here and clicking on Payments.

If you shop regularly at Kroger, please take a moment to sign up for their community rewards program. It does not cost you anything, and Kroger will donate to our school based on the amount of sales we have from families that are signed up. This past quarter we had 31 families participating and earned $175! It only takes a minute to help us raise funds for the school without costing yourself a dime! You can register your Kroger shoppers card online today at krogercommunityrewards.com. Simply search by name to add LAA as your preferred charity.
