Dean's Message

My wife and I moved away from Charleston more than 25 years ago, but in July we were delighted to return to the city we love as I assumed the role of Dean of the Tommy and Victoria Baker School of Business.  Since our return, we have been constantly surprised by the growth and vibrancy of the city and the region.  The rapid changes in the local economy have also been mirrored by significant developments in the higher education landscape. New technologies, changing demographics, new delivery methods (e.g. online courses), decreasing state support, and increasing costs are fundamentally changing the collegiate experience.

As I’ve quickly learned, the outstanding faculty and staff of the Baker School of Business are meeting these challenges with innovative solutions.  Our online programs continue to grow, both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We have added articulation agreements with community colleges around the Southeast to extend the Citadel experience to more students.
