Deliveries have started !

Almost 1 year to the day since we announced that we would consider making the Sd Kfz 9 (Famo), we are extremely pleased to have started shipping the kits to the hard core fans who helped make this happen.

How it all started
If forum history is to believed, the first call for an Armortek Famo kit was by Lerh-Shen C. back in the summer of 2009. At the time we declined to make it because it was too large a model for us to machine and pack - and quiet frankly we did not think it would be a very popular model ....how wrong we were!

Over the years the call never quietened down and the Famo even inspired a poem.

In 2017 Kevin T. started a new call for the Famo on our forum and, after others joined in, we agreed to make it in 2018 as long as enough customers committed to it.

The sheer size of the Famo has stretched our machines to the limit. The chassis rails are made from the aluminium bar that you see above - there are only millimetres of clearance to get this bar in the milling machines. Think we can forget about branching out into 1:4 scale :-)

It did not take long for us to get the critical mass needed, and we were very fortunate that the Wheatcroft Collection kindly agreed for us to photograph and measure their Sd Kfz 9.

The rest, as they say is history.
