Record number of students at University Centre Shrewsbury

A record number of new students have been welcomed to University Centre Shrewsbury (UCS).

Undergraduates got to know the town and their new surroundings during Welcome Week before settling into their studies, alongside new postgraduates, also embarking on a range of courses.

More than 170 students have taken up their places at UCS - the majority from Shropshire with others from the wider UK, Europe and beyond - from Asia to the Americas.

Artistry and Consciousness help garden business to go global

A Shropshire landscape garden business is blossoming after pioneering the use of human consciousness and artists to work with landscape architects to create 21st century gardens that reflect life journeys and peace and beauty.

Carlo Cecchetti found that traditional methods of garden design were not always reflecting and supporting the householders’ truer personalities and unique life journeys, so he came up with a new way of approaching the task.

The Ironwork’s Proms in the Park Supports Nightingale House Hospice.

This year has seen a lot of great events and work take place here at the British Ironwork centre but one of our most successful was by far our 2nd annual Proms in the Park.

This year we threw all of our energy into ensuring that Proms 2018 was a regional success. We invested heavily in a special dome stage which looked simply spectacular when lit up, and we secured the very best in regional musical talent to perform for our guests.

Shropshire cyclist top in West Midlands League

A Shropshire business man has come first in the West Midlands Road Race League after a consistent 2018 season.

Chris Pook, of Estate Agents Cooper Green Pooks, Shrewsbury, races for Rhino Velo Race Team, which he runs with Ben Lawrence of Beaumont Lawrence Chartered Insurance Brokers.

Rhino Velo Race Team also came second overall in the league, just behind RST/Cycle Division Race Team, based in Burton on Trent.

Mr Pook competed in six of the seven races, which made up this year’s league.

Adcote School Community and Work Experience Partners

Mrs D Brown, the headmistress at Adcote School for girls, recently visited us to discuss our existing partnership. We have always been in close association with Adcote and are strong supporters of all that they endeavour to achieve with their students. We provide mutual support for each other in that sense that, whilst we provide work experience and support, Adcote provides us with bilingual support when communicating with our foreign visitors and the opportunity to grow our Work Experience Programme.
