Annual health checks for young people with learning disabilities

Parents and carers of young people aged from 14 to 25 with learning disabilities are being encouraged to make sure they undergo an annual health check with their GP.

Annual health checks can help ensure they stay fit and enjoy good mental wellbeing, as well as identifying any problems early so they can be treated more quickly.

The flu is just a bad cold, right?

No - for many people, including the elderly, pregnant women and those with a long-term health condition flu can be very serious and even fatal.

Diabetes services across Suffolk and North East Essex have been recognised for delivering high quality patient care, promoting best practice and improving education.

Together, services across the region were applauded for clinical excellence and a determination to raise standards for those living with diabetes.

New Recovery College manager takes up her post

The new manager of Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust’s (NSFT) Recovery College has pledged to continue developing the highly valued facility so that it can help even more people experiencing mental ill health.

Breanne Cook (pictured above) has been appointed to the role after previously spending 10 months as the Recovery College’s East Suffolk Co-ordinator, where she was responsible for putting together the timetable, recruiting and training Peer Tutors and teaching. 

In her new role, she hopes to help introduce additional courses and help make sure the college is sustainable so that even more people can benefit from the help it provides.

“I am really excited about my new role, as I really believe in the work of the Recovery College,” said Mrs Cook. “I applied for the job as I wanted to be in a position to influence the growth of the college and make sure it is sustainable so that even more people can access the help it provides."

Suffolk Parent Carer Network -survey
 
This survey is for parents and carers who have children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. How are services in Suffolk performing?  The survey is open until October 31.

Family carers are invited to share their experiences of support.The information will be used to understand what is currently working well for family carers and to identify any gaps in support for family carers in Suffolk.

Governing Body - The next meeting in public of the NHS West Suffolk CCG will take place on Wednesday November 28 at West Suffolk House, Western Way, Bury St Edmunds IP33 2SP. The meeting will begin at 9.15 a.m. and you're able to speak with Governing Body members from 9.00 a.m. More information HERE

 


Community Engagement Group (CEG)- The next meeting of the NHS West Suffolk CCG Community Engagement Group will take place on Thursday December 6 in Bury St Edmunds - venue to be confirmed. Everyone is welcome to attend. More information about the group HERE
 
If you cannot attend the December meeting, the Community Engagement Group members would still be very interested in hearing from you.
