# What's awesome in Technology?
1. Quantum computers on cloud. Canadian company D-Wave launches free quantum cloud service with real-time online computing environment called Leap. It gives application developers real-time access to 2000Q (qubit) quantum computer for 1 minute each month for free. It may sound less, but a minute on quantum computer could help you factor large numbers, optimize routes or even calculate molecular structures that could take days or weeks traditionally.
But according to influencers in the space, they say quantum computers are still years away to enable machine learning tasks.
Ford also signed up to use NASA’s quantum computers for autonomous driving projects.

2. Education that doesn’t break the bank. US startup Lambda school has 30-week immersive program, which you can take from anywhere from world-class instructors teaching you how to code and make production ready applications. The best part, you only pay them once you at-least make $50K/year. If not, it’s free.
# Trends that will affect us
1. GM owned autonomous vehicle developer Cruise Automation raised $2.75B @ $15B valuation from Honda and Softbank to bring autonomous vehicles on roads. I doubt our kids will ever drive cars. Read here.
2. Water scarcity. 783 million people worldwide do not have access to clean and safe water. Some startups are trying to change that by bringing tech and data to fight it.
3. Getting work done is getting serious as our workforces get scattered and fragmented. Check out the state of collaboration software 2018 here.

This week’s influencers are definitely Nobel prize winners for their contributions in the field of science, technology, economics and of course humanity.
1. Read the stories of 2018 Nobel prize winners -
- Physics - Gerard Mourou, Arthur Ashkin and Donna Strickland for their work in the field of laser physics to generate high intensity, ultrashort optical pulses here.
- Chemistry - George Smith, Frances Arnoid and Greg Winter for their work in taking control of evolution and their uses in everything from biofuels to pharma here.
- Medicine - James Allison and Tasuku Honjo for their pioneering work in fight against cancer by establishing a new principle for cancer therapy by discovering a protein on immune cells that acts as a brake on the immune system here.
- Economics - William Nordhaus and Paul Romer for their work on integrating climate change in long-run macroeconomic analysis here.
- Peace - Denis Mukwege and Nadia murad for their efforts to end use of sexual violence as a weapon of war and armed conflict here.
