Dear <<First Name>>,
This could be the beginning of the end for African elephants!
The new president of Botswana plans to allow hunting in Botswana, although it has been banned there for many years.
This distressing news comes just days after about 90 elephants were found who had been slaughtered for their tusks in Botswana.
The prohibition on hunting was the work of ex-president Ian Khama, an avid wildlife conservationist who protected elephants and other animals from hunting and habitat loss.
According to Botswana News 24, President Masisi and "the ruling Botswana Democratic party has been lobbying to overturn the ban, especially on elephant hunting."
I'll speak to Botswana's ambassador on Tuesday and will ask him to send President Masisi a loud and clear message - no hunting in Botswana!
