Thank you for your faithfulness in support and prayer in our lives!

Here is some of what has been going on in the last few months.

EBTC

2018 is coming to an end, which means we have started the new school year in all four EBTC locations. We have just over 500 students this year (!) so please be in prayer for our teachers, staff and students.

As we had mentioned in a previous newsletter, this year we are offering a new Bible foundation class "Principles of Bible-study". We are also continuing with the second year of the Preachers' Institute and the second year of Biblical counseling, but are taking a year break from the first year courses other than the first Bible fundamentals year. Every year there are new hurdles and learning curves for us as well as so much blessing.

Below are some pictures of the first weekends in a few locations.

Church

We celebrated our first wedding at our church early September. It was a very special occasion and a couple we love dearly. Sheryl and I had the privilege of doing a pre-marital class with them and we are enjoying the follow up.
We had a difficult church discipline situation with one of our members this summer and also a lot of growth that came from the people closely involved. God has given so much grace and opportunity to grow and serve, we love to see people who are able to take responsibility in the church.
We had our second baptism with three men and have starting another membership class.
Please continue to pray for our leadership: Nick Kalena, Marco Bartholomä and myself and our families. The gift and responsibility of shepherding is constantly changing with new members and needs. We have seen how God has shaped us and our church body over the last two years and we also know that we have a lot to learn.

Below are some pictures of our church the last few months.

Family

Sheryl and I are doing more ministry together now that all the kids have "left the nest". It is a real joy and blessing to have Sheryl with me and teaching the women when we visit churches and also more free to serve along side me in our church. Sheryl meets with the wives of the men in leadership and teaches the women's Bible study once a month at our church, teaches a class for the women in Rheinland at the EBTC, is the inn keeper of the Andresen "Hotel" and takes care of me! Those are just her regular jobs and I don't know what I would do with out my better half to say the least.

I say "left the nest" because Elisabeth is back home :)! She  completed the year of studying Hotel Management in Bavaria and is currently back home, working full time at various hotels in and around Berlin. She is enjoying her job but looking for a full time position at one hotel to make her commute and scheduling more manageable.

We want to thank you again for your prayers for our daughter Stephanie and her family during their miscarriage and following complications. The Lord decided to bless them soon after with a surprise baby. This pregnancy didn't start out without its set of difficulties, but we are so thankful to say they are expecting a healthy baby boy due the end of January. Stephanie is doing well and we are all very excited. Please continue to pray for them.

Actually we have TWO grandchildren on the way! Our daughter Katrina and husband Marco are expecting their fourth baby due in April! Please keep Katrina in your prayers. Children and especially grandchildren ;) are a blessing from the Lord!

Philip is doing well and I just had the privilege of seeing him and his girlfriend on a short visit last week. He really enjoys his job in the marines and we are looking forward to having him in Berlin for a few weeks in 2019 . . .  if all goes according to plan :-).
Top picture is with Philip and Heather last week. Bottom left is Katrina & Marco's little one and bottom right is Stephanie with her daughter Emily.
We were also able to visit Brian and Heidi Kinzel our family and dear friends living in Israel in order to help with the Bible Survey Online class that they want to start and connect with the local church

Please continue to pray:

for our church leadership, that we would shepherd the flock well, for fruit discipleship relationships and for spiritual growth.

for wisdom for the EBTC leadership as we deal with some slanderous reports "Fake News" regarding our theology. Please pray for God's protection and that we would be above reproach in what we teach and what we write.

please pray for us to get some new support. We are lacking about $500 monthly.

We are so thankful for your support and we do covet your prayers.

Thank you for your faithfulness in supporting the ministry here and our family.
