AABA October Meeting

Join us for our October AABA Meeting! It will be held Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at 7:00-9:00 PM at Arlington Echo.

New Beekeepers Session

There will be a “New Beekeeper” session from 6-7 PM – yes, one hour before the start of the regular meeting -- where experienced AABA beekeepers will open up the Arlington Echo hives (weather permitting) and be available to answer your questions.

Presentation of CDR Mumford Awards

The CDR Mumford Award is presented each year to the Honey Exhibit's “Best in Show” entry at the Anne Arundel County fair. We will presenting the awards to the 2017 and 2018 winners.

AABA Elections

Ever thought about getting more involved in the club? Now is your chance! Club elections are an opportunity to learn about the various aspects of the club that keep it going, and if you feel ready to sign-up to help. Take a look here and consider becoming an AABA volunteer!

Program

The speaker for our October meeting is Charles DeBarber. Charles will speak to the club about making Swarm Boxes. Charles is the Senior Beekeeper at the Filbert Street Garden and operates the largest community garden bee yard in Maryland. He has years of experience with swarm captures, bait boxes, and cut outs. He has unique experience in repairing and restoring old hive equipment and is considered a local subject matter expert in capturing feral honeybees.

Meeting Location

The meeting will be held in the main building at Arlington Echo, 975 Indian Landing Rd, Millersville, MD 21108.


AABA Short Course

Registration is now open for the AABA Short Course, or Beginning Beekeeping 101. This course is for anyone interested in learning about keeping honey bees. Click here for more information.
