Welcome to Update number 7

Here we are in the last few months of 2018!  Our final event celebrating our 130th year anniversary has been held and some photos are below for those who could not attend.

I was very happy to have Canon Cheryl Selvage staying with me over the weekend of the Evensong.  I opened her up to a few new experiences - watching an AFL grand final and making cakes from a packet!  She fell in love with my puppy Arnie (it was reciprocal I can assure you with him moping around after she left).

I hope you enjoy this edition of Update and there are just two more opportunities to come to a Townsend Fellowship morning tea this year!

130th Anniversary
Afternoon Tea and Evensong

Sunday 30 September - St George's Cathedral
What a wonderful afternoon we had celebrating with those who attended the Afternoon tea and Evensong.  It was great to catch up with people we have not seen for a long time!  Thank you to Michelle Syzmanski for the lovely afternoon tea she made and for Alexandra and Hannah Taylor who helped to serve the delicious spread.  It was lovely to have Archbishop Kay, Bishop Jeremy and Canon Cheryl (GFS Australia President) with us.

We were blessed to have the Sydney Conservatorium High School Chamber Choir singing at the Evensong in quite a full Cathedral. It was a great service with GFS being able to do the Ceremony of Light from our GFS prayer book - thanks to all who attended.
Well done to those who have been knitting poppies - our 90 poppies were dropped off on Tuesday to the RSL.  They will be included in the installation of 62,000 poppies on the lawns of Kings Park surrounding the State War Memorial on the 11th of November.  This is the day which marks the 100th anniversary of when the guns fell silent on the Western Front and the First World War officially came to an end.

What a wonderful trip I had to Wongan Hills a couple of weeks ago.  Over the two days we had 10 children come along to explore Everest and learn about how God has the power to provide, comfort, heal, forgive and love us forever.  We played games, heard bible stories, visited the "imagination station" where we saw some amazing things happen.  Through KidVid Cinema we saw how kids have done amazing things for and in their communities.  We sang songs, made crafts and enjoyed lovely food prepared by Karen.  On Sunday morning we participated in the church serve and led them in the songs and stories that we had been doing during the Holiday Club.  A big thank you too all in Wongan Hills who always make me feel so welcome and for all the yummy food that the MU ladies bring to keep us going!
Please hold the following in your prayers:
