Blissful Autumn. About as good as it gets in the Beacons and a fine time to visit The Griffin. Details of the Winter Escape below. A sensibly economic way to visit us in quieter times and a good chance to experience the cooking of our recent arrival as Head Chef, Rollo Mason.

Meanwhile in Cornwall, the beaches are again open to dogs and our eyeline is filled with wine dinners, a shopportunity, wreath-making and exhibitions. More on all of these below. We hope you have a fabulous last lap to the year.

THE WINTER ESCAPE

Winter Escape
We see more and more impersonators but we try to keep our Winter offer simple. A one (or more) night stay at any of our inns, including dinner, breakfast and coffee or tea when you arrive. From £170 per couple in Wales and from £160 in Cornwall. Sunday - Thursday and outside of holidays and half terms. From Sunday 28th October.

Wine Dinners
Our season of wine suppers hits top gear in October. Please call each team directly to book tickets. See the bottom for details of dates and prices of each of them.

Next up is an Gurnard's Supper Club on Thursday 25 October celebrating Goatober. A menu based around the simply outstanding produce of Cabrito and the drinks from The Real Kombucha. Tickets £30 a head .

Awards
Although we make sure our heads aren’t turned too vigorously by awards, it’s good to recognise the effort that the teams have put into securing them.

A Bib Gourmand from The Michelin Guide for The Griffin, as well as the Good Pub Guide’s award for Wales Dining Pub of the Year. Gold awards from Taste of the West for the two Cornish outposts. And both are finalists in Visit Cornwall’s ever more competitive Cornwall Tourism Awards.

The Fishermen's Mission
The Old Coastguard’s walls are currently hung with the photography of David Penprase and Chris Boulton. Salt of the Earth is a new show featuring portraits of the people and landscapes of Newlyn and its surroundings.

An auction of all the works will take place at The Old Coastguard on Friday 2nd November at 4pm, with proceeds going to The Fishermen's Mission. Please join us and bid up.

Meanwhile over at The Gurnard’s Head, we continue our successful run of solo shows in the snug. In October, it’s the turn of Suzy Sharpe. All works are for sale.

Ben Llewellyn of Carte Blanche Wines hosts a Wine Supper based around Welsh venison. With a nose to tail tasting menu and wines picked to match from across Ben’s portfolio. £60 per head. More from here.

Winter Fair
The Old Coastguard
An opportunity to break the back of the Christmas shopping by buying from some of our favourite artists and artisans, including Ebb & Flow, Ankor Design and Rebecca Harvey Ceramics.
11am – 4pm. Entry free.

Vegan Supper
The Old Coastguard

To celebrate #WorldVeganMonth The Coastguard is hosting their first Vegan Supper. Seasonality is at the forefront of the menu in a movement that has taken the world by storm. £30 per head / £60 with wines to match.
9th December & 15th December
Christmas Feasts
All Three Inns
A communal Christmas lunch, for anyone who happens to be in the area on 15th December (Griffin and Gurnard’s Head) and 9th December (Old Coastguard).
