October 9, 2018
Sunday's reflection by Dr. Travis West comes from Exodus 17.

Dr. Travis West will also be leading us in our
Big House Sunday (large group adult education).
Embodying the Text:  Hey Friends. You are invited to an exciting opportunity this Saturday, October 13 from 10:00 AM - 3:30 PM. Dr. Travis West will be here to lead a workshop on enacting the story of scripture. The group will be invited into the story of Exodus 17 to explore its meaning and how it is we interpret the text with our whole selves. Part of this group may also perform their interpretation in worship on Sunday. Space is limited as we only have 25-30 slots available so don’t wait to sign up for this incredible opportunity of discipleship and bible study. Contact Pastor Ryan if you are interested at rboes@aacrc.org. Or call the office at 734-665-0105.
  • Housing will be needed for 3-4 of our guests from this group.  If this is a need you can help with, please contact Pastor Ryan, rboes@aacrc.org, or the church office, office@aacrc.org.
Council Update on the Livingston's Visit:

A church-wide email from Council President Bill VanderMolen was sent out this past Monday with details regarding the next steps. Below you will find a summary of upcoming events/dates:
  • Council will meet on Wednesday, October 10 at 7 PM.  Part of Wednesday’s Council meeting will be open to members of the congregation who wish to engage directly with Council.
  • Should Council vote to affirm the Livingstons as candidates, there will be a congregational meeting on October 28 after the Sunday morning service, where the congregation will vote to call the Livingstons, or not.
  • Members of Council and the Hiring Team will be presenting information, including budget implications, and fielding questions on Wednesday, October 17 at 7:30 PM and Sunday, October 21 at 7 PM.
Please pray with us as we listen, discuss, and seek God’s will.
Post-High Care Packages:
The word Oikos means “house” or “household”. Our Post-High members may not be here, but they are still part of our household. We can show them hospitality by sending them a care package. The packages are full of small items that they need; some baked goods, maybe a fun item, snacks and a note of encouragement from AACRC. We have been doing this for the last several years and it has been greatly appreciated. We will be assembling the care packages on the night of October 17 so mark that date on your calendar.

You can sign up to provide the items at the following link:

Please contact Arnie & Dawn Geldermans to find out more information: geldermans@comcast.net or 734-995-5463.
Don't Miss This Opportunity...
  • New Members Class:  Are you new to the AACRC or interested in its ministry? Would you like to join the AACRC by becoming a member? If you are interested, please reach out to him at rboes@aacrc.org or call the office.

Note: If you ordered apple pies from the school, they will be available for pickup that afternoon.

Have you seen the orange fish?

Our students are collecting their Sunday school tithe for World Renew's Passion Project, BEE-A Life Changer (https://www.myworldrenew.net/beealifechanger).  Our goal is to raise $200.  The students may turn in their collection at the beginning of Sunday school on Sunday, October 21.  Please bring the coins or bills collected in an envelope or Ziploc bag labeled BEE collection and list the amount enclosed.  Do not bring in "the fish".  Thank you for your support.
