Look at the sky and take a break!
10 October is World Mental Health Day – We had wanted to organize an event for it, or at least do a webinar or write some coherent article to observe the day and make ourselves useful and helpful. However, we had been working on some back end priorities, and our team have been travelling for different reasons.

I also felt overstretched, fell ill for two weeks, plus the shoulder pains from the car crash a month ago was still bothering me, so I did not have much energy to catch up with everything on our plates. I sat at home over the weekend, feeling like a failure, feeling like I was missing out on the action and a chance to do more for Bearapy, and feeling displeased with myself for not having done more.

Then, something blinked on my Twitter – someone had just bought my book, read it, and had messaged me to tell me how inspiring it was to hear my story. I was so touched I almost cried, and then I started laughing at my predicament. Was I about to burn myself out again, vying for a second book, perhaps titled “I Never Learn: How I Burn Myself Out Again?” Would really rather not.

So instead of the rush to do something, I decided to heed my own advice for once. I sat, looked out the window, stare at the sky, sipped some brown sugar plum wine, and decided that life was good, as it was.

If World Mental Health Day was to encourage us to take care of our mental wellness, then we should do just that!

We hope today, in your corner of the world, you allow yourself a mental break, even if just a few minutes, to breathe in the world around you, and CELEBRATE with us, because my book “Stress in the City: Playing My Way Out of Depression” will be released in the US soon after the UK!

Mental Fitness at Work

Interested in helping your employees learn about mental health, how to spot the symptoms, and what to do if colleagues and friends are burning out or have depression? We have experience working with a cross-section of industries, MNCs, SMEs, and startups using a fun and interactive approach to help executives gear up on mental resilience at work.

In a recent workshop with a law firm, participants' feedback was that they learn much more in-depth about depression and burnout, became more opened to discussing this topic, and found the techniques to help others very practical and helpful!

When your employees are mentally fit, they become more productive and efficient in their work! Contact Bearapy to discuss how we can help your organization!
