Hello! ...
This week's Farmers Markets:
Thursday: Princeton Farmers Market from 10 to 3
Friday: Rutgers Gardens 11 to 5
Saturday: Metuchen Market 9 to 2 in the new town plaza! Garden Street Farmers Market 9 to 2 in Hoboken and Pennington Farmers Market 9 to 1
Sunday: Summit from 8-1 and Denville from 8:30 -1

This week's best food to eat:
-Boc Choy salad! Slice up the leaves and stems of a big Boc choy, combine with sliced red pepper, grated carrot, chopped onion to taste, and toss with a lemon tahini dressing (make by shaking up lemon juice, tahini, and olive oil together). Garnish with almonds or cashews.

Looking at the weather coming this week (wood-stove worthy chilly nights!) we’re getting a reminder that for some of our summer favorite foods the time is running short. One question I would ask you- have you preserved any peppers for the winter?  Red peppers are one of the few crops that I will personally make the effort to stock up on, because it is so easy to do that I can actually fit it in to farm life schedule.
To freeze peppers for winter, you just remove the cores, slice them up, stuff them in a ziplock, and freeze. That’s it. No need to blanche, steam, peel or anything like that. You could even skip slicing, but that step lets it all fit in the freezer better. I always try to have one bag per winter week put away so we can be getting a nice natural dose of vitamin C on a regular basis!

I know we sound like a broken skipping record on the topic of wet weather, but it's still wet out there, so we're working on an infrastructure project to make sure we've got ourselves involved in being as productive as possible. Our old greenhouse is now completely take apart, the materials have arrived to put the new one together, and construction has begun!
Join us for a FARM TOUR and under-the-tent-lights POTLUCK on Saturday October 20th, 5pm for the walking tour and 6pm to share a meal together. Respond to this email to let us know if you're coming so we plan seating accordingly. Customers, friends and family welcome.
Eat well!
