Pennsylvania's Longest Disc Golf Course will be Opening Soon in Butler County

Cranberry Township will be home to Butler County's newest disc golf course.  The Champion Disc Golf Course is the 2018 Cranberry Township Community Chest (CTCC) Project of the Year.  It includes two miles of new nature trails, an 18-hole Championship disc golf course and a 6-hole ADA accessible recreational/learn-to-play disc golf course. The new course will be located on the on the 30-acre western portion of North Boundary Park.

Well over 10,700 feet long, the course will be played as a full, par 72 course. It will be the longest disc golf course in Pennsylvania and one of the 10 longest disc golf courses worldwide.  Its challenging terrain will include elevation changes, tight fairways and lots of trees to navigate around.

The Nature Trail will follow the disc golf course and is designed to easily connect with other nearby trails and create a continuous loop throughout the park.  Design work and construction is well underway and the disc golf course is expected to be open in November of 2018.

The new disc golf course will be an incredible addition to North Boundary Park, attracting visitors from around the world.  Several major disc golf tournaments have taken place within Butler County such as the World Championships of Professional Disc Golf, at Moraine State Park and Slippery Rock University.  These events drew in thousands of spectators and stimulated local tourism through overnight hotel stays, restaurants and shops.  Having three Professional Disc Golf Courses in close proximity of each other will greatly increase the amount of tournaments that can be held in our county.

Did You Know?
"Just like in a golf swing while hitting a ball, you need to keep your head down throughout your pull, release, and into your follow through.  Lifting your head early causes your shoulders to lift, which usually results in grip-lock and late release."
