Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

I want to pass along incredible words of praise that I received recently about how Mars Hill University is impacting our local community. Below are a few photos and a message from the principal of Mars Hill Elementary School that really make me proud of your work.

I want you to know that you are making a huge difference in the lives of young people. That is what we are here for, in my opinion. I applaud you and encourage you to keep doing this. We can do so much more. Our community and our world need you. They need your energy, your enthusiasm, your passion, and your brilliance, and one day we will all look back and see that this work has made a difference. Keep dreaming, keep fighting to make things better, and don’t let anything stop you.

Thanks,

Tony

President Floyd,

I wanted to reach out and thank you for the involvement of MHU employees and students on our campus at Mars Hill Elementary. We have several students and MHU personnel on our campus on any given day. They have a great impact on our students and assist in making our school great.
  • Matt Willing and the MHU Cycling team have helped Mrs. Pearson with the Bike Club at Mars Hill Elementary for several years. Our students stay after school for several weeks in the fall and again in the spring.
  • Victor Finora and the MHU Men’s Basketball team are helping me with “Boys on Track” on Monday and Thursday afternoon. We work on character and prepare to run a 5K race in November.
  • Jenny Finora and the MHU Women’s Basketball team work with Mrs. Pearson and mentor a small group of girls weekly.
  • The MHU Lacrosse coach and players taught lessons during our PE classes to introduce our students to the sport and encourage them to get involved in the lacrosse youth program.
  • Aaron Rembert and MHU Baseball players mentor a small group of fifth grade boys weekly.
  • Bonnor Scholars work with grades 3-5 using Great Leaps to help students master their multiplication facts.
  • The MHU Education Department places several students at Mars Hill Elementary for field experience and student teaching each semester.
  • Dr. Destino and Bridget Morton teach Eng. 334 in our building to embed students in a real school environment. They partner with our fourth grade and will be taking a joint field trip to Cherokee next Monday.
  • MHU hosts the Lion’s Field Day on a Saturday in the spring for our students to experience  different sports offered at the collegiate level.
  • Many volunteers from the MHU student body will volunteer at our fall festival on October 19:
    • Baseball
    • Basketball
    • Clogging
We are always impressed with your students and personnel on our campus. Thank you for the community involvement we receive from MHU.
