Australia is a dynamic and vibrant country with a great deal to offer to international students. Choosing to come to Australia to further our studies has provided us with new and wonderful opportunities and experiences and a whole new view of the world, not to mention an exciting and progressive world class education program.

Charles Sturt University has globally recognized courses and qualifications along with a reputation of excellence. “Master of Customs Administration” at Charles Sturt University has been designed by the Centre for Customs and Excise Studies (CCES) and is accredited by the World Customs Organization (WCO). WCO’s accreditation of this degree speaks of its high quality and educational standards.

Our studies in this degree has helped us to develop advanced cognitive skills and knowledge to provide solutions to complex problems relating to customs administration. It has given us an exposure to different approaches for managing the import, export and transit of goods in cross-border trade. We have obtained knowledge about international customs policy and practice including key international instruments affecting customs operations and regulatory practices in conformity with the rules of international law. “Master of Customs Administration” has provided us with an understanding of key conventions, standards, guidelines and recommended practices of the World Customs Organization and agreements of the World Trade Organization. This degree has enhanced our understanding of strategic and operational management issues in the customs context, including international trends that impact on customs such as social expectations, emerging technologies and the global economy. It has provided us an insight as to how modern approaches to customs matters and border controls can speed international trade flows.

Most of the resource persons for “Master of Customs Administration” are retired customs officers as they served in the Australian Customs Service. They have rich customs experience and served at senior levels both in operational and policy making positions. This is a distinguishing factor of Master of Customs Administration as the class discussions provide a blend of theoretical knowledge with the explanations based on the practical experiences of the resource persons. The study guides of the course are very informative, comprehensive, updated and easy to understand. This course has provided us exposure to international experience in customs operations and management. We all have more than ten years work experience in our respective customs administrations, but we have realized that we have got marvelous brain gain by studying different subjects in this course like customs management, international customs law, international trade law, customs reforms and modernisation, and research methods in customs.

Port Macquarie is a beautiful beach city with excellent weather throughout the year. There are more than hundred international students studying at the Port Macquarie Campus of Charles Sturt University. It provides an amazing conglomeration of vibrant, dynamic, appealing and multicultural environment where people from different cultural settings and different races exchange ideas and benefit from each other’s experiences. This multicultural environment has provided us an opportunity to build strong global networks.
