Anti-poverty Week 2018

Anti-Poverty Week is a week when all Australians are encouraged to organise or take part in an activity aiming to highlight or overcome issues of poverty and hardship nationally and locally.

Council is currently running an Anti-Poverty Week Food Drive from October 5 - 26. Help us help those in need by donating non-perishable food items and toiletries. Donations will be given to Anglicare, St Paul’s Uniting Church and Sarina Inter-Church Council to replenish their existing food pantries. All donations, no matter how small will be greatly received and appreciated.

Donation drop-off points are at the Jubilee Community Centre, Dudley Denny City Library, Gordon White Library, Mirani Client Service Centre, Walkerston Library and Sarina Neighbourhood Centre.

Some of the teams also blew the judges away with their creativity, including a very full-looking Mayor Greg Williamson.  Speaking of creativity, there were a some very colourful aprons on display.

The winners:

2nd - Grandma’s Place
3rd - Sarina Lions

Many sponsors and supporters made this amazing event possible.  There was entertainment, coffee shop, bar, burgers and market stalls to keep everyone entertained.  A cupcake decorating competition for the kids as well as an art competition and face painting.
