Get Ready to Alter Your Altar

By Randy Maxwell, Washington Conference Prayer Ministries coordinator

Remember Foto Hut drive-through kiosks? If not, Google it. Customers would actually deliver rolls of film negatives to these local Foto Hut stores, then return to collect their finished photographs. How quaint.

The Foto Hut chain failed and went into obsolescence in the early 2000s due to competition and the rise of digital media.

Remember family worship? If not, Google it. Families would actually gather, sometimes twice a day, to sing, read scripture, and pray. They did this to keep God at the forefront of family life. How quaint.

Like Foto Huts, family worship has gone the way of floppy discs and pay phones, joining other relics of the past like prayer meeting and Bible study. Modern families today have no time to eat together, let alone worship together. Is it any wonder that there is a spiritual power shortage in our churches, and growing spiritual darkness in our communities?

On October 20, staff, campers, parents, and supporters of Sunset Lake are invited to join us for a day of worship, creativity, teamwork and fun. Using a collaborative approach, we will shape the future of summer camp at Sunset Lake. Sessions will innovate the cabin experience, class curriculums, spiritual development and more.

Western Washington Serves Community

A group of volunteers from North Creek Adventist Fellowship spent time giving back to the community by getting their hands dirty with Hopelink Harvest! Volunteers harvested bushels of green beans to give to food banks in the local western Washington area.

Additionally, Port Orchard Adventist Church handed out over 60 pairs of glasses to Port Orchard community members. This outreach is a follow-up from the AMEN Port Orchard free medical clinic that happened in early August.

We love hearing stories and seeing examples about how our churches are active in their communities! How is your church serving your community?

Keeping Pathfinder Clubs in Prayer

After several years of wanting and waiting, Olympia Spanish Church started their first Pathfinder & Adventurer Club with Pastor Victor Rodriguez and his wife Ynocencia!

Our western Washington Pathfinder & Adventurer Clubs have grown tremendously this year! As they begin their meetings and start to fundraise for Oshkosh, let us continue to pray for the local clubs and the strengthening of youth ministry!
