At the end of October, Network Rail embark on a three-week project to double capacity through Filton Bank. We've got information on this, a new diversion at Temple Gate and details on how your business could get funding for gigabit-ready broadband below. Doubling railway lines for a better service in the Bristol area

From Saturday 27 October to Sunday 18 November, Network Rail will be working 24/7 to install two new railway lines through Bristol into South Gloucestershire.

The Filton Bank four-tracking project will increase capacity on the railway network in the Bristol area, removing a bottleneck and enabling an increase in trains to meet growing demand.

Throughout the three-week upgrade, buses will replace trains between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway, and on the Severn Beach line. Some train services will be diverted.

Temple Gate improvement works: changes from 21 October

This week, surfacing has been underway through the existing Temple Circus roundabout giving an exciting glimpse of the final scheme. As construction moves into its next phase, there will be a new diversion coming into effect from 8pm on Sunday 21 October. Traffic going north on Temple Gate to turn left into Redcliffe Way will now travel via Temple Circus. This change will allow District Heating Main works and construction of the carriageway and footpaths.

This week surfacing works will also be taking place overnight on Redcliffe Way. To accommodate this, the road will be closed from 8pm to 6am on 18 and 19 October, with an eastbound only closure on 21 October.

Go gigabit: funding for ultrafast gigabit ready broadband
Businesses in Temple Quarter and the wider Bristol City Council area could now benefit from a grant to get gigabit broadband. This new Government scheme aims to extend full fibre networks and bring gigabit broadband to more businesses and homes.
