In celebration of World Obesity Day 2018 HCC is launching its My Healthy Caribbean School (MHCS) and Childhood Obesity Prevention Scorecard (COPS).

These are important tools to assist CSOs with advocacy for enabling Caribbean civil society's contribution to national and regional action for healthier happier children.

My Healthy Caribbean School (MHCS) is an initiative of the HCC which provides students, teachers and parents with the opportunity to monitor the school environment with a focus on nutrition and physical activity.

The HCC developed the Childhood Obesity Prevention Scorecard (COPS) to facilitate strengthened awareness of national policy responses to childhood obesity as part of the monitoring and evaluation component of the HCC Civil Society Action Plan for Preventing Childhood Obesity in the Caribbean.

This is all part of the HCC COP web portal. Click on the links below to see all of the Childhood Obesity Prevention work we are doing.

HCC also recognises the World Obesity Day theme this year of End Weight Stigma and urges partners implementing COP programmes to be aware of weight stigmatisation which can be particularly acute among children with long lasting negative health consequences.
