Simple Living and Field Fair

Hello Family and Friends,
We trust you are doing well!
We just wanted to highlight two aspects of our training so far this semester at the Missionary Training Center in Roach, MO.

Field Fair

What is Simple Living? (check out the video above)

The Practical Skills course syllabus says that Simple Living "seeks to equip students for the field by exposing them to relevant practical skills and basic outdoor living which will naturally stretch them both physically and spiritually."
Teamwork Exercise: you work together as a mentoring team to develop and execute a team strategy that includes creating an evening meal plan, discussing the resources and materials needed to wrap/outfit/extend our structures, managing the use of limited "airplane" space, and designating daily routines and responsibilities, etc. Teamwork is the most beneficial and challenging aspect of Simple Living.
We also participated in practical skills classes, to include: small engines, liquid propane gas stoves, motorcycles, pig and chicken butchering, supply buying, and plumbing/pumps.

We are now just over 3/4 complete with the training. See our timeline below...

Field Fair is an important event that happens every fall, where 10-12 of the Ethnos360 fields send representatives to describe how God is working through their field, and how we could become a part of that work. We are still processing this decision, and the Field Fair was helpful.

Prayer Requests:

To continue to come to know Him and the power of His resurrection, and to grow in the grace and knowledge of Him.
To have a biblically accurate view of God, others, and ourselves.
To take full advantage of our training, and to have teachable/moldable hearts and minds, especially when it comes to learning to love others and become good teammates.
For God's guidance and direction regarding field choice with Ethnos360. Praise we are getting closer to making this decision.
For the health of our marriage and the discipleship of our kids.
For laborers for the harvest (Luke 10:2)

We'd like to leave you all with this thought-provoking perspective check. Paul was about 63 years old when he died around 65AD, so he's been with the Lord for about 1,953 years. Now read these verses he wrote in light of this perspective:

Romans 8:18 "I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us."
2 Corinthians 4:17 "For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;"

Today, from above, I bet Paul couldn't agree with these verses more!
