Manufactures around the U.S. will showcase their manufacturing capabilities, trends, and technologies beginning Friday, October 5 on National MFG Day 2018. MFG Day is an annual celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation. In many states, including Idaho, the month of October has become a time for manufacturers to open their doors to friends, family and community members to open the minds of the next generation to the array of opportunities in modern manufacturing.
The Southern Idaho region is proud to have a strong manufacturing industry supported by a dedicated workforce. To educate and encourage the workforce of the future, Canyon Ridge High School, the College of Southern Idaho Workforce Development & Training Program, the city of Twin Falls, and the Southern Idaho Economic Development Organization will celebrate Manufacturing Day with a full day of tours of local manufacturing facilities on October 4.
The Southwest Idaho Manufacturers' Alliance (SWIMA) will provide a magnificent showcase of modern manufacturing at the "Made Here! Expo & Job Fair" on October 17 at the Ford Idaho Center in Nampa. Hundreds of students from around the state will experience interactive displays, meet manufacturers, and gain firsthand knowledge of career opportunities in Idaho manufacturing. Full details of that event are available below and at the SWIMA Website.
Some may still see manufacturing environments as dark, dangerous places designed for low-skilled workers. MFG DAY addresses this misperception by giving manufacturers an opportunity to show, in a coordinated effort, what modern manufacturing is really like. Visit the national MFG Day website to find a local event or to add yours to the mix.
