Burnaby International Folk Dancers Newsletter
Bellingham monthly parties have started. See below for the October party tonight!

The program for the remainder of October will be designed to review dances done so far this season, which are many! We were taught 18 dances, and danced 33 dances on top of that. See program for Oct 9 below. We will also start accepting a few white board requests each evening. Another priority is to accumulate requests for our Halloween party coming up on October 30. Send requests to the contact form on the website or write them on the request sheet that will be available at dancing.

Volunteers for Coordinating the Dance Programs
Dale will be coordinating the program for the remainder of October, with Lori taking care of October 16 when Dale will not be here. Our new volunteer, David Browne, will also have a hand in the programs soon! If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Chrisanne at cgpenn@uniserve.com.

Upcoming BIFD Events
  • Halloween Party, Tuesday October 30. If you like, dress scary or silly and bring a snack to share. Dance until 10pm.
  • Year-end Winter Dance Party, Tuesday, December 11. If you like, dress for a party or wear an ethnic costume, and bring a snack to share. Dance until 10pm.

Bellingham First Saturday Dances

 
Osem i Devet, that is, Michael Lawson on accordion, David Bilides on Tupan and singer Teodora Dimitrova are our featured First Saturday Dance band for our October 6th Party. They are wonderful!! The only rub is that it will be in our new First Saturday Party venue -- NOT THE LIBRARY -- but the Squalicum Yacht Club!

How to get there:

To get there, turn into Squalicum Way from Roeder Ave. which is parallel to the waterfront.  Then, take the 1st right at N. Harbor Loop Drive and follow this short road to it's end.  Then turn left into the parking lot and the Squalicum Yacht club can be seen right in front of you.

The address is 2633 S. Harbor Loop Drive.

Dancing starts at 7:30 and runs to 10:30.  There is a $15 donation requested.

Hungarian National Dance Ensemble - 2018

Spirit of Hungary – Tour Oct - Nov 2018

An exclusive dance and music performance to commemorate the brave spirit of the 1848 Hungarian Revolution against oppression of the Austrian, Habsburg Monarchy; and celebrate the vibrant and energetic folklore of the Hungarians in the Carpathian Basin. The Hungarian National Dance Ensemble (Magyar Nemzeti Táncegyüttes) is one of Hungary’s most important professional folkdance companies, which has toured on every Continent of the world with great success and acclaim. The Ensemble’s appearance in North America is a rare opportunity to witness Hungarian dance culture at its best.
