Companions for the Journey

A day for spiritual directors and others in listening and pastoral ministries to consider our own need for community, the reasons behind the search for companions, how we listen to that quest, and how we might respond.

Empathy and the Experience of Faith

Using examples from literature, art, theology, and film, this day will investigate a definition of faith that does not depend on knowledge, or certainty, or obedience, but on love, and which points us towards shared glory through shared wounds.

Words of Consolation and Challenge: Poetry and Pastoral Care

Poetry can be a gift, offering words to comfort the sorrowing and disturb the complacent. This is a day to resource pastoral care for lay and ordained ministers, chaplains, and care-givers of all kinds.

An introduction to some of the questions, competing ethical theories and human stories that surround our ongoing disagreements about assisted dying.

A day jointly organised by Sarum College and the University of Winchester offering the chance to look beyond conventional management approaches to leadership and ethics, exploring the underlying cultural and spiritual concerns.

Bishop Alastair Redfern named new Chair of Sarum College Trustees

The former Bishop of Derby has expertise in the fields of theology, church history, social justice, clergy training, leadership and spirituality. Dr Redfern is an author of 12 books and begins his role as Sarum College Chair of Trustees in January 2019. Read more »
